Meet our Siberian Huskies....and the whippet. At SalvaMea we love to race, but we love our dogs for who they are first. We are proud of all our dogs accomplishments. We have given homes to dogs from Welfare with baggage, pet dogs who ain't the fastest and we also have dogs with amazing racing pedigees.
SalvaMea.
We love them all.
Ghost (Shadowolf Aurora Moon)

Known by many names "Beanbag", "Fatty Patty", "Queenie". Ghost was our first husky and it is her that lead us on this crazy journey. Never the fastest dog, but always consistant. Her finest moment was winning the Nikita Trophy in the 2 dog class at Aviemore 2006. Currently resting from our race team she still maintains her competitive qualities, she was runner up in the 2007 ABSA Sausage catching contest.
Zillah (Shadowolf Lost Soul)

Zillah may not be the brains, but he is the muscles on the team. Proving you dont have to come from recognised racing lines to work well in harness Zillah reliably pulls his heart out. A born wheel dog, Zills is our gentle giant. His sweet nature and solid work ethic have made Zillah the perfect dog for Sam and Luke to race in Junior classes coming away with many wins for both boys. He also had the honour of picking up "kissiest dog" at Colwyn Bay, Zillah aka Mr.lover lover will loves everyone.Prepare to be licked to death.

Pagan (Welfare)
48 hours from being put down, labelled aggressive and dangerous, Pagan found himself rescued by Eileen and Richard Cook and bought into Welfare. Pagan's path to us was convoluted but eventually we picked him up from Amanda Palmer's kennels and we have never doubted that his home should be with us. This lovely dog just needed some loving and alot of patience. Typically "red", Pagan is the mischevious boy in our pack. In harness he will turn on a dime and take you past distractions on the trail.
Reef (Welfare)
We first met Reef at the SHCGB Buttersteep rally. This beautiful boy has bounced in and out of Welfare. Despite looking every inch a race dog, Reef was just a nervous wreck when we first took him on. Running in harness seemed to terrify him and was dropped from the team for 18 months. Then he made up his mind he fancied a run. That was a year ago and he ran his first Aviemore in 2008. We are so proud of this graceful handsome boy. Reef is Dawn's posing dog, but is improving all the time in harness. Currently running in lead with Pagan, Reef just keeps getting better.
Hex (Valuiki Nutmeg at Salvamea)

Hex and her sister Cruz represent the next stage in our evolution as a kennel. We have been great admirers of the Zero work ethic and nature and were fortunate to meet Lynn and Adrian Tilsed at a time when they were planning a litter from their proven race lines. A sweet girl with a lovely temperament, we wait with anticipation to see how she performs in harness.
Cruz (Valuiki Nacho at Salvamea)

The naughty sister, Cruz is already showing a bold nature and confidence that bode well for the future. Sharing Hex's quality pedigree, Cruz has strong Zero lines behind her. From the Valuiki kennel, Cruz is a daughter of Lingo and Herminone, both proven race dogs. This little girl has bags of potential. We wait with baited breath.
Romany (Gwaihir Benimble)

Romany is litter sister to Voodoo and comes from Helan and Dave. These girls come from the historic Seppala blood line and we feel priviledged to have these girls in our kennel. We hope they will complement the Zero girls in harness. Romany is the sweetest, most affectionate husky we have ever owned and a great ambassador for the Seppala bloodline.
Voodoo (Gwaihir Bequic)

Litter sister to Romany, Voodoo lives up to her name and is the naughty crazy sister. Carrying phenomenal Seppala blood, this little ball of energy will be an asset to our team in years to come. Sharing Romany's affectionate nature Voodoo loves nothing more to sneak into the house and stake her claim to the sofa.
Lenny (Crispen Morning Glory at SalvaMea)
Lenny is our husky antidote. He is the sweetest boy who takes all the rough housing the big dogs throw at him, then runs rings round them until they are exhausted. Lenny wants to be a husky. On training sessions he howls in the crate to run with the big dogs, if you let him go he will run round with the team. Whippets are not known for stamina, but this little chap just keeps going. He gets spoilt rotten and is Sam's constant companion.A great advert for a mixed pack.
