Welcome to the SalvaMea zoo.......and always growing

Fanny and Nell
Fanny and Nell are our beloved Toggenberg goats. These couple of beauties produce up to eight litres of milk a day. Named after Fanny and Nell who own Fanny's Farm in Surrey who were a major influence on making us believe you can do anything if you believe in your dream. Not only a tribute to a couple of our role models, we also gain endless amusement from phrases like "im just going to milk fanny" !!
As well as a limitless source of milk, we make goats cheese and soap.

The Angora Girls
Holly,Willow,Ash, Rowen and Maple are our angora goats who were looking for a home and tootled down to us. These girls will provide us with mohair which we can spin or sell . Smaller than Fanny and Nell, but very cute and full of personality. Now all we need to do is learn to shear!!

The Girls.....and Lucky
Now if you think chickens are dumb creatures these girlfriends are here to show you the truth. We have ISA warrens, black rocks, marran, black rock x frizzle, light sussex x silkie girls and Lucky......a welsommer cockeral we got for free and now has a life many men would kill for. Our hens free range and produce wonderful eggs. Our "from The Mill" eggs are sold at the gate and to our demanding regular clientelle.

Indie
Indie is Luke's Royal Python. It was Indie that helped Richard overcome his phobia of snakes. In many ways Indie has dog like qualities...he loves to snuggle in to you, enjoying the warmth. He is a docile snake and is growing to be a handsome young snake.

Bagherra (aka Meg)
Bagherra is our transgender cat.Baggy started life as Meg. But as Meg grew he also grew "down below" and we had to rename her.....as a he. Extremely affectionate, but with a nasty habit of peeing in the house. A local borrn cat, he loves being outdoors, hunting or rolling around in the sun. When the weather gets cold he can be found snugged up with Fanny and Nell.

The Spids
Currently we have 5 tarantulas in residence, 1 grammasola rosea, 1 brachypelma albop , 3 avic versi slings.....much to Dawn's disgust. Actually these hairy little critters are absolutely fascinating. I have Layla to thank for introducing me to this weird corner of the natural world.

Blessed Bees
Dawn's bees arrived at the end of July. We have a wonderful cedar hive built by John at Moray Beekeepers and our nucleus came from Tony. Our plan is to let the bees establish themselves this year, and with luck we may have some honey to harvest next summer. Bees are absolutely amazing and it is amazingly relaxing to watch them going about their business on a sunny summers day.

Duck-U-Like
These little cuties came from The Walled Garden in Drummuir. Two kahaki campbells and an Aylesbury , they are very funny. Only 10 weeks old when we got them, it will be a while until they are laying. For now they are enjoying paddling on their very own pond and living the life of Reilly.
